Rotaract organizes Annual Health Conference

Rotaract District 3271 organized a research conference, hosted by Rotaract Club of Karachi Karsaz under the supervision of its District medical services chair and president Dr. Zunaira Akram, Lecturer Baqai Medical University and Conference Chair, Ms. Aisha Noureen .The theme of conference was “Annual Health Conference” with the motto of, ‘Health for All”.

It was hosted by the club’s Vice President, Rotaractor Maryam Inayat , she commenced the event with the name of Allah and national anthem.

Further on Dr. Syeda Sadaf Akber the Conference Scientific Convener, and Assistant Professor at Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education officially commenced the conference.

Keynote lectures including, Rotarian Anjum Ghaffor Ghaffari of Rotary Club of Karachi Avenue, Dr. Sadaf Ahmed, from Psychophysiology Research Lab, University of Karachi, and AEIRC, Dr. Muhammad Imran Yousuf, Mental Health Specialist, and Master Trainer of Clinical Hypnotherapy, Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi President of Pakistan Society for Microbiology, Dr. Syed Imran Ali Shah, Medical Director, Department of Trauma and Orthopedics’, A.O hospital, Karachi, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman, Professor of Pathology and Hematology, Baqai Medical University, Prof. Dr Abrar Shah of Operative Dept, Hamdard Dental College, and proficient, Dr. Farah Essa Zaidi, Director Radiology, Head East Zone- Dr Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Center shared their views.

However Commissioner Karachi, Mr. Iftikhar Shellwani, District Governor Mr. Raees Ahmed Khan, CEO Essa Laboratory and DG Elect Dr. Farhan Essa, PDRR, Mr. Hiralaal Bharvani, Rotary Pakistan Literacy Mission National Chair, Mr. Faiz Kidwai, PDRR and DRC Mr. Arif Siddiqui, PDRR, Mr. Raza Tabish, PDRR, Dr. Anum Akram, DRR, Mr. Asjad Ahmed, President of Rotary Club of Karachi Karsaz, Mr. Muhammad Jawad Shami and ZRR of Quaid Zone, Mr. Faiq Hamid were also present on the occasion.

More than 250 students of various universities including Baqai Medical University, Dow medical University, Jinnah University for women applied for the conference and 150 were shortlisted according to the research criteria and categories, Whereas the division of participants was done according to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

The post graduate students were evaluated for both, Oral and Poster presentations while the undergraduate students were evaluated for only poster presentations, and there was one more category of publication in which national as well as international abstracts were selected and published.

The best research paper award was won by an under-graduate student, Mrs. Isabella Christopher, of Dow Medical University with her abstract “Knowledge, Practice and Complications Associated with Diabetic Foot.”

Moreover ,the conference was highly appreciated not only by the participants and contestants, but also by the respective judges and seated guests for each of the synergetic and influential session and profoundly, the categories and sub-divisions, they were allowed to present orally and through posters.
