Rain Emergency Center setup in Civic Center to deal with any untoward situation, DG KDA


Director General Karachi Development Authority Syed Shujaat Hussain while presiding over a high level meeting imposed rain emergency in KDA townships and schemes across the city in view of expected rains.

DG KDA Syed Shujaat Hussain has issued instructions to the concerned officials and engineers for taking into account the expected abnormal rains, drainage measures should be immediately ensured in all KDA townships and schemes.

For drainage of rain water, all the suction pumps and machinery should be kept permanently active and generators, heavy machinery should also be hired if necessary, he added.

Moreover he stated that, All officers and employees should perform their duties 24 hours a day to deal with any emergency situation. DG KDA cancelled the leave of concerned officers and employees and issued orders to Chief Engineer KDA Tariq Rafi that rain emergency centers should be established in their respective site offices in KDA schemes and townships.

In view of the rains, contacts should be made with various civic agencies and positive strategies should be formulated and any kind of omission or negligence will not be tolerated.

A Rain Emergency Center has been set up at Civic Center to deal with any untoward incident during the expected heavy rains, which will play an important role in monitoring the situation due to rains 24 hours a day as well as ensuring emergency measures he added.

Director General Karachi Development Authority Syed Shujaat Hussain further said that in order to make the institution financially stable, it is necessary to identify the shortcomings and remove them on a permanent basis, The role of KDA officers and employees is important for the improvement of the institution and by mutual agreement, all the officers and employees should realize their responsibilities to stand the organization on its feet.

DG KDA Syed Shujaat Hussain while giving orders to Director Parks Muhammad Zahid said that notices should be issued to the nurseries established in KDA townships for rent collection immediately and the rent should be increased.

The approval will be taken from the governing body KDA so that the recovery of KDA can be increased.

Meanwhile, Syed Shujaat Hussain said that by contacting various NGOs and philanthropists to populate inactive parks of KDA, To be given on adoption, and after the parks are built, better facilities will be available to the public.

Karachi Development Authority have 379 existing parks across the city, 193 parks are encroached upon and 48 parks are established in boundary walls.

DG KDA issued orders to prepare and submit the report of all the parks to start the process of settling the parks by taking over possession from the mafia.

Engineer KDA Tariq Rafi, Director Land Mohammad Shahid, Director Parks Mohammad Zahid, Director Sports Jameel Ahmed, Director Estate and Enforcement Arshad Abbas, Director Planning and Urban Design Rafiq Khoro, Superintendent Engineers and Executive Engineers and other officers were present on the occasion.
