Only Seventeen Doctors available for the Jails of all over the Sindh Province, in a shocking revelation City News learned that no doctor appointed in jails of more than ten jails in different districts of the province.
It was observed that Nusrat Hussain Mangan Inspector General of Sindh Prisons & Correctional Facilities & Corrections Service department on Wednesday 12th February 2020 through a letter forwarded summary for the appointment of doctors on the vacant posts.
As per the summary of department ,In 28 prisons of province including Special prison for women & Juvenile, total sanctioned posts for doctors are 55, whereas only 17 posts are filled and 39 are still vacant.
City News learned that in District Prison Dadu 2 Posts of doctors were sanctioned and no doctor appointed , whereas no doctor available in District Prison Sanghar, Central Prison Sukkur, Central Prison Larkana, Central Prison Khairpur, Central Prison Jacobabad, Central Prison Shikarpur, Central Prison Ghotki, Central Prison Naushahroferoze, Javenile & Women Prison at District Prison Sukkur, Special Prison for Women Larkana, Central Prison for Women Karachi, Special Prison for Women Hyderabad, New District Prison Shaheed Benazirabad, Juvenile and Women Mirpurkhas and Special Prison for Women Shaheed Benazirabad.
Sources informed that numbers of prisoners died due to heart attack including other diseases in different prisons of Sindh during the last year because of doctor’s shortage.
In a letter to Additional Chief Secretary Sindh , Nusrat Mangan stated that the proposal of service structure for the medical officers of Sindh Prisons Department prepared with consultation of the doctors of department for the approval and issuance of notification.
