Pink Ribbon Pakistan Honors Leading Universities for Breast Cancer Awareness Initiatives for Sindh
KARACHI– Pink Ribbon Pakistan hosted a prestigious Awards Ceremony at the HEC Regional Centre Karachi. The event was held to recognize and commend universities of Sindh Province that have demonstrated exceptional dedication to breast cancer awareness. It marked the announcement of the winners of the Pinktober Youth Awareness Program for the year 2020 to 2022 in the Sindh region, along with celebrating the milestone of educating two million youth ambassadors from across Pakistan on breast cancer awareness and prevention.
The esteemed recipients of the awards included Dow University of Medical and Health Sciences, Government College University Hyderabad, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technologies, Bahria University Karachi campus. The Academic Dignitaries who participated in the event commended the proactive involvement of students in addressing the critical issue of breast cancer.
Omer Aftab, CEO of Pink Ribbon Pakistan, credited HEC’s steadfast support in empowering young women with vital early breast cancer detection knowledge and fostering health-conscious lifestyles. He announced the ongoing development of a dedicated breast cancer hospital, set to be completed by year-end, providing free consultation, diagnosis, and financial support to breast cancer patients.
Mr. Javed Ali Memon, Director of HEC RC KARACHI, praised Pink Ribbon Pakistan for their outstanding two-decade-long commitment to breast cancer awareness and commended universities for actively promoting health consciousness among students.
The Awards Ceremony was attended by professors, academic dignitaries, and administrators from various colleges and universities, all united in their commitment to raise awareness about breast cancer and improve the health outcomes of women across Sindh.
