Peddlers Make Lasi Pada Centre of Drugs Trade in Baldia Town

Lasi Pada in the jurisdiction of Madina Colony Police limits has become a major drug den where drug peddlers are freely trading in White Powder, ICE, Crystal, and Charas right under the nose of law enforcement agencies. Although Madina Colony police personnel and the Madadgar ‘15’ teams pass from the hub river road very frequently as a routine patrolling, the illegal trading continues unchecked, area people complained.

They pointed out that on many occasions in the past, police had conducted raids but they neither recovered any drugs nor did they arrest any peddler. A young residents of Lasi pada had said that one of the drug seller namely Imran was arrested on monday by the police team of Madina colony while he has been released and now again he his selling drugs in the area openly.

According to some local residents, the main source of drug supply to this den was somewhere in Hub Chowki and most of the carriers appeared to be. The drug is sold at unit rates of which ranged from Rs 250 to Rs1,000.

Scores of drug addicts may be seen strolling in and around Lasi pada, as well as around the adjoining Sawat Colony and Baloch Muhalla. Addicts in groups of two, three and more lying in streets and lanes, often even in hot weather, is a common sight in the whole area. They come to the den to buy drugs and would sit anywhere they feel free to use the same.

Hundreds of innocent boys have fallen victim to this evil which has destroyed peace at their homes and tranquillity in the society, according to a social worker.

Those visiting the den for purchasing drugs come from different areas, including Lyari, Orangi, Muwanch Goth, Hub chowki,Gulshan-e-Mazroor, Dawood Goth, Raees Goth, 500 Quarters and Site.

Some residents of the Lasi Pada said that some political activists were also involved in the flourishing drug trade in this area. They said that members of the drug sellers allegedly led by criminal Anwer and Aku might have been running the business here.

The area people have appealed to Chief Minister Sind, Murad Ali Shah, and Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar, SSP district Keamari, Fida Hussain Janwari, and SHO PS Madina Colony, Salim Rind to order a strict check on the narcotics business in Lasi Pada, Sawat Colony (Baldia Town).

They have drawn their attention to the sufferings of a large number of families struck by the deadly evil as children, youth and even their parents had already been lured to drug peddling or addiction by criminals. They demanded stern action against the people patronizing the den and to demolished the drugs den in Lasi Pada and Swat colony.
