OPD boycott and protest demonstration to remain continue until demands are met, Chairman YDA Sindh

Male and female doctors from all wards and stations across the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) united in protest against the ongoing violence against young doctors, The protest included a full OPD boycott, a demonstration, and a sit-in.

While sharing views Chairman Young Doctors Association (YDA)Sindh Dr Mehboob Noonari extend his heartfelt gratitude to the media outlets who covered the issue and supported him.

Whereas, During the protest, the Executive Director, Dr. Nasir Saleem Sadal and SHO Imran invited representatives from the Young Doctors Association (YDA) for talks. The negotiations yielded no tangible outcomes, as none of the doctors’ key demands were addressed:

Chairman YDA stated that,There was no clear response regarding when or by whom the Institutional FIR would be filed for the brutal attacks on male and female doctors on 23/09/2024. The only statement offered was a vague intention to review the inquiry report, with no time frame or commitment.

Moreover he informed that, No specific timeline or authority was mentioned to investigate the role of security personnel and SNC who allowed these violent incidents to take place in a single day.

However,There was no announcement regarding the date or venue for a briefing on future security measures from the Executive Director, leaving doctors without assurance of their safety, he added.

No concrete solutions or mechanisms were proposed to address the chronic shortages of medications, equipment, staff, and infrastructure that continue to undermine the hospital’s functionality, he added.

Dr Mehboob informed that due to the failure of the talks, the doctors have unanimously decided to continue the protest, demonstrations, sit-ins, and the OPD boycott will resume tomorrow.

Other hospital services will remain operational, with on-call doctors striving to perform their duties in the wards and ER under challenging conditions, he said.

At last he asked that ,YDA call upon all doctors and the media to join us as we fight for justice and demand urgent reforms for a safer, more secure healthcare environment.
