The water Supply system and its all components would have to get better as per todays need by public private partnership unit to ensure the supply of 100 MGD Water to Karachi , Syed Nasir Hussain Shah expressed these views while presiding over a meeting with officials of Public Private partnership -PPP unit to review the different ongoing projects of water supply at his office.
Secretary Local Government Roshan Ali Sheikh, Managing Director KW & SB Asad ullah Khan, Chief Engineer Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Zafar Palijo, Superintendent Engineer Sikandar Ali, DG PPP Unit Khalid Sheikh and Sohail Abid including other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
On the Occasion Minister Local Government has directed for the constitution of a technical committee, whose head would be MD KW & SB and other officials of water board and two officers of PPP unit would be the member of said technical committee.
The said committee would finalize the recommendations and present it to the Minister Local Government after detailed review.
Minister was informed in the meeting that 100 Million Gallon water is supplying to Karachi from hub dam via hub kanal but due to the damage and broken lines almost 50 percent of water wasted and only 50 MGD water supply to the city.
Due to the said reason the areas which could get water from this system are facing shortage of water, officers informed that there is a need to review whole supply system to get it better.
It was learned that , for the continuous supply of water to Karachi , participants discussed on the suggestion for conversion of KW & SB system on solar energy, whereas plan for the fixing of plants for the purification of water and to find alternative resources of water also discussed in the said meeting.
