Mayor launches project to widen city’s main artery

HYDERABAD: The Mayor of Hyderabad Kashif Ali Shoro on Tuesday performed the groundbreaking for the reconstruction and broadening of an over 13-kilometres long road connecting the Autobahn Road with the Hala Naka suburb of the city.

The mayor told the media at the ceremony that under the project the a 6km stretch of Autobahn Road will be widened by eight feet from the existing 36 to 44 feet while the width of Shaikh Bhirkio Road and Canal Road, which are over 7km-long, will be expanded to 36 from existing 24 feet.

The project is expected to be completed in two years at the cost of Rs2 billion. The tender for the project was floated on April 11 at the said cost. However, the provincial budget for fiscal 2023-24 revised the same to Rs3.21 billion.
