LEGAL FRATERNITY DEMANDS GOVT SUPPORT, EASE IN LOCK DOWN

ABOTTABAD: General Secretary Peshawar High Court Bar Association Abbottabad Bench Muhammad Zareed Qureshi Advocate has said ” COVID-19 has wrapped the whole world in its trap and world has come to standstill.
Due to this pandemic courts are closed all over the country only duty judges are rendering their services in higher and subordinate courts , disposing of the cases of urgent nature, i-e Bails and stay orders only. Flanked by Qazi Muhammad Sheraz, Asad khan and Mazhar khan Advocates high court he addressed a press conference at High court Bar Room Abottabad.
Commenting on glorious past of lawyer he said that lawyers were the architect of Pakistan and their contribution in defending human right and perseverance of constitution could not be overlooked.
Whenever democracy had been derailed, lawyers came forward to restore it in the country.”We are unpaid servants of the constitution, civil liberties and democracy ” he added.
He further said” nowadays lawyers are facing acute financial crisis due to corona pandemic lockdown. In these hard days we expect support from the government”
There are 12 hundred registered members of High court Bar Abbottabad bench and we want to provide them assistance in this time of need, but Bar Association doesn’t have enough funds to support its members.
By placing his demand before the govt he said, grants should be given to Bar Association for lawyers, free medical be provided to affected lawyers, sanitizer gates be installed at all entrances of courts and bar rooms and finally lock down should be lifted with the implementation of precautionary measures.
