Doctors of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital-ASH Karachi are on protest from more than 15 days due to unresponsive behavior of management towards resolution of their demands.
It was learned that the said hospital runs under the authority of Karachi Municipal Corporation-KMC.
Young Doctors Association-YDA representative of ASH informed that their demands are the release of deficit stipends of House Job Officers and Post Graduates .
He also added that House Job officers stipends are pending from 3 to 5 months , whereas Post Graduates stipends pending from 3 to 8 month which is a long period.
While speaking about the demands of YDA he stated, KMC has not raise the salaries of house officers and post graduates as it has already raised in all hospitals of Sindh province but ASH is one of the hospital where doctors are vulnerable from basic rights.
However he shared that Sindh Government on February 2019 notified 45 thousand salary for house officer and 75 thousand for post graduates but KMC is not following the guidelines of said notification.

Several times new dates and minutes of meeting in written with signatures of Director ASH Jabbar Bhatt, Senior Director Health Dr. Salma Kausar and even by the signature of Mayor Karachi had been given to YDA but still issues are persistent.
It was observed that On last Saturday 16th Day of OPD Boycott , Doctors had treated patients at the parking space of hospital, Where one of the YDA representative told that , “If we have to provide free services , so we will provide our services to patients only not to KMC”.
One of the YDA member also stated that , YDA protest is not against patients as doctors are continuing OPD outside the hospital.
