KDA has initiated action to remove encroachments across city; Asif Ali Memon

Director General Karachi Development Authority Asif Ali Memon has said that in the light of Supreme Court orders, Karachi Development Authority has started full action to eliminate encroachments on KDA lands across the city without any discrimination, especially on welfare plots.

Lands will not be used for illegal activities under any circumstances. State and Enforcement personnel should take practical steps to reclaim lands and take them into government custody without giving in to pressure. He expressed these views during a meeting with senior DG KDA officials.

During the meeting Director Land Shamsul Haq Siddiqui, Director Coordination to DG KDA Khalid Zafar Hashmi, Director State and Enforcement Arshad Abbas, Director Parks Muhammad Jameel, Secretary KDA Naeem Waheed, Law Officer Syed Iftikhar Hussain, Executive Engineers and Other officers were present. The DG KDA directed the Director Parks to not only rehabilitate the playgrounds on an emergency basis but also to improve the condition of the parks to provide healthy recreational facilities to the citizens.

During the meeting, the DG KDA formed a three-member committee which will present a detailed report on the current situation in the parks, including the KDA grounds.

He further said that for the operation against encroachments, liaison with law enforcement agencies including local administration should be maintained and the said operation should be carried out under the supervision of police and other administrations.
