JSMU Research Department Holds Thesis Defence Research Seminar

Jinnah Sindh Medical University’s APPNA Institute of Public Health (AIPH-JSMU) and the Research Department led three Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) thesis defence research seminar on June 15th and 17th.

The first candidate, Dr. Rakhshinda Ambreen presented her thesis on ‘Adherence and factors influencing adherence to Hepatitis C Virus Direct-Acting Antiviral Therapy Regimen at two hospital-based hepatitis C clinics in Karachi’ the supervision of Dr. Shiraz Shaikh, AIPH-JSMU. Whereas, the second candidate, Dr. Mehreen presented her thesis on ‘Effectiveness of meditation in reducing depression among adult females in District Sanghar’ under the supervision of Dr. Zaeema Ahmer, AIPH-JSMU.


The third candidate, Dr. Rabia Anwer successfully defended her thesis on ‘Validation of Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis versus Body Mass Index in Classifying Overweight and obese in Adults of Karachi’ under the supervision of Professor Lubna Ansari Baig, Chairperson AIPH-JSMU. For each candidate, two external examiners supervised the defence along with one internal examiner and one neutral chair.

Vice-Chancellor Professor S.M. Tariq Rafi congratulated all the candidates on successfully defending their thesis and appreciated the APPNA Institute of Public Health (AIPH-JSMU) organisers for carrying out the 19th MSPH thesis defence, effectively.
