The exam was held at five examination centers in Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, and Larkana. Over 40,000 candidates participated in the exam, vying for 1,700 open merit seats.
The answer sheets were sealed and secured after the exam. They will be opened tomorrow, Monday, by officials appointed by the university. The exam results will be announced in a week, but the answer key will be uploaded tonight.
Almost 10,000 candidates took the exam at the Karachi University examination center, with over 7,000 women and nearly 2,800 men. Over 5,000 candidates took the exam at the Dow University Ojha Campus examination center, with over 3,700 women and over 1,400 men. Over 13,000 candidates took the exam at the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Hyderabad, with over 7,000 women and over 6,000 men. At the examination center set up at the Bilawal Sports Complex in Shaheed Benazir Abad Nawabshah, the number of female candidates was over 2,000, while the number of male candidates was over 1,500. Over 4,000 female candidates and nearly 4,000 male candidates took the exam at the examination center set up at the Larkana Police Training School.
Vice Chancellor of JSMU, Professor Dr. Amjad Siraj Memon, oversaw the examination process at the University of Karachi, while Registrar Dr. Azam Khan performed the duties of overseeing the examination process at Dow University.
Help desks, medical camps, and lost and found counters were also set up at the examination centers for the convenience of the candidates. During the exam, candidates were also provided with water bottles, biscuits, juice, and candies.
Three candidates were caught cheating in the exam at Dow University, two in Hyderabad, and one in Larkana. Their papers were immediately canceled and they were expelled from the examination centers.
Vice Chancellor of JSMU Professor Dr. Amjad Siraj Memon thanked the Vice Chancellors of the University of Karachi Dr. Khalid Iraqi, Dow University, Professor Dr. Saeed Qureshi, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Professor Dr. Ikram Uddin, Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences, Professor Dr. Gulshan Ali Memon and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Professor Dr. Nusrat Shah for their cooperation in the peaceful conduct of MDCAT in Sindh.
Professor Amjad Siraj Memon said that the Jinnah Sindh Medical University has proved that it has the potential to excel in any field by successfully conducting the MDCAT on a large scale in a peaceful and transparent manner.
Police, traffic police and Rangers were deployed to prevent any kind of disorder at the examination centers.
It is to note that the Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) arranged wedding halls for parents to sit near the examination centers and news about this arrangement has also been published.
