Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Monday demanded a proper inquiry into the “sudden” death of Station House Officer (SHO) Amir Shahzad, who died of a “heart attack” a day earlier.
Shahzad was the complainant of the first information report (FIR) registered against the Wazirabad attack on the former prime minister in November last year.
The PTI chief took to Twitter where he laid his demand and said that the SHO “was a critical witness in unearthing the conspirators behind this assassination plot being inquired into by the JIT [Joint Investigation Team]”.
The ousted premier added that the “JIT record has also been tampered with”.
“It is equally important to recall the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of FIA investigator Dr Rizwan as well as the deaths of Maqsood Chaprassi and all other witnesses in Shahbaz Sharif’s money laundering case,” Imran furthered.
The case of the assassination attempt on Imran was registered at the City Wazirabad police station on the statement of the deceased policeman.
Imran and several other PTI leaders were injured after an attacker opened fire near the PTI reception camp at Allahwala Chowk during the party’s long march on Nov 3, 2022.
In the shooting on the PTI chairman’s container in Wazirabad, a party worker was killed and six others, including the former premier, were injured.
In February, an important record pertaining to the investigation of the attack on the deposed prime minister had reportedly gone missing from the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).
