(Web Desk) – Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Pervaiz Butt has invited Pakistani actress Hina Altaf to visit Lahore after the actress described Karachi as a “jail” for women, saying that females cannot enjoy freedom in the city.
A few days ago, Hina Altaf recorded a video while walking on the streets of London, in which she spoke about the difficulties women face in Karachi. In the video, the actress said she wanted to enjoy her last breakfast in London before catching a flight to Karachi, as she would then have to return to what she described as a “jail” in Karachi.
She said women could not live freely in Karachi and that even walking on the streets had become difficult for them.
Responding to her remarks, Hina Pervaiz Butt released a video message in which she said she had watched the actress’s video highlighting the safety challenges faced by women in Karachi.
Hina Pervaiz Butt invited the actress to visit Lahore, saying that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, women’s safety was a key priority in the province.
She said the government’s commitment was to create an environment where every woman could move around freely, confidently and without fear, without having to face harassment.
She further claimed that women felt safer in Lahore than in London. Hina Pervaiz Butt said no woman in Lahore could be subjected to violence or harassment.
