KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has issued notice to the chief secretary to explain why the biometric attendance system implemented in government offices was not working.

At many offices, the employees have damaged the biometric attendance machines so that the fake attendance of ghost officials may continue unhindered.

A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court headed by the acting Chief Justice Irfan Saadat Khan heard the application of a citizen Waqif Shah who wants that there should be biometric attendance of all government employees.

According to the applicant, the court should order the Sindh government to implement biometric attendance system, especially in the health and local government departments.

Saadat Khan further appealed for the deployment of honest, brave and sincere officers to protect and operate the biometric attendance machines.

Sindh Secretariat employees are habitual later comers leave office at their will. Government employees come to offices after 11am and people face difficulties due to these latecomers. Moreover, many officials exist only on papers and keep drawing their salaries without coming to the office or doing any work.
