A protest rally was organized in Gadap Town under the leadership of Town Municipal Corporation (TMC) Chairman Tariq Aziz Baloch and Municipal Commissioner Ahmad Yar, condemning India’s unilateral move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty.
The rally drew participation from several senior officials and employees, including Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Malir Basheer Memon, Director HRM Humayun Imran Khan, Superintendent Engineer Noor Ali Jamali, Director Property Suhail Yar Khan, Director Advertisement Hidayatullah Sheikh, Director Information Rizwan Sabir, Law Officer Suhail Qazi, Deputy Director HRM Sarfraz Ahmed Khatri, Deputy Director Anti-Encroachment Aslam Brohi, Atif Badr, Deputy Director Advertisement Asfand Jamani, Chairman’s PS Lal Jan Nabi, as well as council members and employees.
The participants raised strong slogans against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government, while expressing unwavering solidarity with the Pakistan Armed Forces.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Tariq Aziz Baloch highlighted that the Indus Waters Treaty was signed by the mediation of World Bank in 1960 between Pakistan and India, was a significant and historic agreement for fair water distribution in South Asia.
He stated that India’s attempt to suspend the treaty unilaterally violates international laws and ethical standards. “Under international law, no country can unilaterally cancel or suspend an agreement, especially one made under the supervision of the United Nations or any international body,” he emphasized.
Municipal Commissioner Ahmad Yar also addressed the crowd, condemning India’s actions as not only illegal but also dangerous for regional stability.
“India must refrain from such low-handed tactics. The international community must take this issue seriously and pressure India to honor the treaty to ensure peace and fair water distribution in the region,” he urged.
The rally served as a unified call from the people and officials of Gadap Town, demanding respect for international agreements and reaffirming their commitment to Pakistan’s sovereignty and defense.
