KARACHI – The first ever Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree on political poetry of the famous revolutionary poet of the subcontinent, Josh Malihabadi has recently been awarded to Syed Jafar Askari, a senior journalist and poet, from the University of Karachi.
The Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) of the University of Karachi (KU) has approved the award of the Ph.D. degree during a recently held meeting.
Mr. Askari, who is also serving the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, as a media advisor, has completed his Ph.D. entitled, “Political Poetry of Josh Maliahabadi: A Sociological Study of its Impacts On Independence Movement in the Subcontinent,” from the Department of Sociology, University of Karachi. However, the doctorate research was accomplished under the supervision of Dr. Kaneez Fatima Mamdani (sociology), and the famous poet and critic Dr. Hilal Naqvi.
