The Karachi Development Authority’s (KDA) Land Management Department Director Asif Raza Chandio has formally requested DG KDA for the withdrawal of restrictive orders mandating the closure of offices by 5:00 PM, citing operational challenges and the need for extended working hours to maintain workflow efficiency.
In a letter addressed to the Director General of KDA, the Director Land highlighted that while routine public dealings take place during official hours, sensitive and critical assignments—including reports for courts, matters involving NAB, anti-corruption and other legal documentation are typically undertaken after 5:00 PM.
The letter further pointed out that the preparation and printing of official correspondence, such as important letters and reports, is often completed after regular office hours.
Director Land pointed out that, Various departments including the IT Directorate, Master Plan Department (DP&UD), Engineering, Law, and Estate & Enforcement, reportedly continue operations beyond 6:30 PM due to heavy workloads.
Acknowledging the operational demands, the Director of Land Management requested that their directorate be permitted to function beyond the 5:00 PM deadline to ensure timely preparation and submission of critical reports.
The request letter has been copied to key government officials, including the Provincial Minister for Local Government, Additional Chief Secretary, including other senior officers of the KDA.
On the other hand a Delegation of KDA Mazdoor Union headed by its Chairman Abdul Mateen Shaikh met Director Land KDA regarding the said issue, asked him to continue his work after 5:00 pm and assured for the support of union regarding resolution of the office closure timings issue.
