Chairman Chanesar Town Farhan Ghani has said that the process of ending the transition period and transferring powers to the lower level is the full implementation of the Local Government Act.

Further he said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan had a clear idea even before the local body elections that they could not win even a single seat in the election.

He expressed these thoughts while meeting with people from different walks of life in his office.

Farhan Ghani said that yesterday’s statement by Khawaja Izhar ul Hasan of MQM Pakistan against the transfer of powers to elected representatives of local bodies is a clear proof of their failure.

He said that the transfer of powers to the lower level by the current caretaker provincial government is part of the Local Government Act which was approved by the former provincial government of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the process of transferring powers to UC, town and public representatives to the lower level is included in the act.

Farhan Ghani said that the transfer of powers to elected representatives is actually recognizing the sanctity of people’s votes.

He said that before the local bodies elections, MQM knew that they would not be able to win even one seat in this election and that is why they boycott and today their opposition from the city and its people is reflected from their own mouths.

He said that all the elected town and UC chairmen of Pakistan Peoples Party have started fulfilling the promises made to the people and are trying to solve the problems of the people.
