Coronavirus; ASH staff at risk over lack of protective gear
Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) staff say they are being put at risk during the coronavirus outbreak because of lack of protective gear (safety kits).
Doctors in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) are performing their duties without having safety kits , An Official of YDA informed that Despite high risk of COVID- 19 in hospitals No Masks, gowns and caps provided by the department.
City News learned that Abbasi Shaheed Hospital is one of the biggest health facility of city which works under the management of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC).
The images are taken from Child Life Emergency of said hospital, where doctors and paramedics are performing their duties without having safety kits as they are more immunocompromised and more prone to infections.
Speaking with City News office bearer of Young Doctors Association (YDA) informed that , they will write an application to the administration and on the other hand YDA representative stated that Child Life Foundation(CLF) refused to provide anything except gloves to the doctors who are performing duty at emergency.
“We know the high mortality in older people, but for reasons that we don’t understand, front-line health care workers are at great risk for serious illness despite their younger age,” Dr. Peter Hotez, professor and dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, said during an appearance on CNN’s New Day on Monday morning.
