The Cardiac Emergency Center Shah Faisal Town Karachi is facing a severe shortage of Doctors as it has only four doctors who are working in three shifts, citizens are suffering as hospital reportedly close at 9 to 10 pm.
According to Dr. Majid Ali Medical Superintendent of Cardiac Emergency Center he has already forwarded the request of posting more doctors in the hospital as the hospital close at 12 pm everyday due to doctor’s shortage.
He also told Daily City News that if more doctors will be posted here then he could run this hospital 24 hours.
It was learned that Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is spending more than 100 Million rupees just for the payment of employees salaries of this emergency center.
However, it was learned that Medical Superintendent is the only doctor with a Diploma in Cardiology (DIP Card) in the said hospital ; other doctors have only the experience of cardiology along with MBBS.
It was learned that according to the Budget Book of KMC for the year 2022-23, with 137 posts 101,633,000 Rupees budget allocated in term of employees salaries and 48,50,000 allocated for other expenses which includes 15,00,000 Rupees for purchase of medicines, 1,500,000 rupees for purchase of medical surgical and disposable articles, 600,000 rupees for purchase of petrol /diesel including other expenses for Cardiac Emergency Center Shah Faisal Town . In addition 650,000 rupees allocated in this year’s budget of KMC for repairing of Equipment, beds including cars of the emergency center shah faisal town.
Medical Superintendent told that it is one of the state of the art cardiac center which have facilities of laboratory, Echo Machine, ETT including other necessary treatments which will be necessary to treat the cardiac patient in case of emergency .
He also claimed that approximately 100 patients visit daily in the OPD of the cardiac center by paying a nominal fee of 100 Rupees and also all test charges are very cheap as compare to other private or even government laboratories.
Federal Government is seeking financial aid/loan from IMF including other banks and countries to run the country financial matters, whereas on the other hand millions of rupees are being wasted in government departments like KMC where numbers of employees posted on paper but in reality the department health facility is facing employees shortage, which is happening allegedly due to the presence of ghost employees who are getting their salaries without performing their duties.
