ATP calls for strengthening democracy and state institutions

The Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP), chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah has stressed the need of strengthening democracy and state institutions.

He called upon all political parties to fully materialize their promises and implement the parties manifesto with true letter and spirit.

Speaking a seminar on titled: ‘Democracy is future of nations”, Faiq Shah said it is topmost responsibility of government and state to strengthen all pillars of democracy.

However, he emphasized that there is need to adopt principles of tolerance, democratic culture and criticism for positive development in the country.

ATP chairman asserted that the promotion of democratic norms and culture in political parties is dire need of hour, saying that people talk about democracy so why they are nurturing dictatorial and authoritarian thinking within their parties, he asked and they must hold ‘self-assessment’ whether or not, the democracy culture exist in their attitude and behaviour.

Faiq Shah underlined the media is important pillar of the democracy. No one can curb freedom of media and expression to fulfill their nefarious agenda, he warned.

On the same instance, he expressed hope that media would also play its due role and responsibilities in benefitting manner.

The party chief said if the national institutions would keep the interest of people and the country atop during criticism, then the democracy will be flourished in real sense, besides society will also opt way of tolerance, decency and balanced approach, which is essential for development of nations.

Mr Shah went on to say that his party is playing pivotal role in highlighting masses issues.
