AIG Karachi orders for crackdown against people selling donated ration

AIG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon on Wednesday issued directives to Zonal DIGs and District SSPs for ensuring a peaceful environment during lockdown in the city which imposed to control the possible spread of coronavirus.

Sources informed that Additional Inspector General Karachi Police in a meeting with officials of department hinted for a possibility of increasing frustration among the public if the spread of COVID-19 would not control and the lockdown would extend, he directs all the district top officials to standby and equipped reserve forces for any uncertain condition

Whereas Top Official of Karachi Police also instructed the officials for gearing up the mechanism of intelligence and collection of information from Underprivileged areas regarding the shortage of food.

He directed Karachi Police Officials to encourage the welfare organizations for distribution of ration as per the decided mechanism of the Provincial Government.

Sources stated that AIG Karachi is taking personal interest in collecting of information and pointing out the residents who are facing food shortage in this regard AIG Special Branch would also collect the data and share the same with respective areas Police Officials.

Moreover, Ghulam Nabi Memon during the meeting also gave instructions for a crackdown against the persons who are involved in selling ration (grocery) items after collecting it from different welfare organizations.

While issuing the instructions to officers Additional IG stated that, ration should not be distributed at any open place and stated that the distribution of ration should be preferred at door to door in early hours from 4 am to 7 am only to avoid gatherings.

He also directed District SSPs for ensuring deployment of police at the markets and banks by taking the market associations on board to avoid any incident of robbery.
