Netflix listed a recent job posting for a machine learning platform product manager that will pay $300,000 to $900,000 annually.

The job post raises a debate about AI replacing key people in the entertainment industry especially when actors are being paid a meagre $200 a day.

According to the Netflix job listing, AI will be used to “create great content” and not just develop new algorithms to recommend shows and movies. Netflix has alluded that AI will be used in “all areas of the business”.

Netflix is also hiring a technical director for generative AI at its gaming studios which will pay a whopping $650,000.

The company has already invested in AI and is using the tech for its Spanish reality dating series called Deep Fake Love, which scans contestants’ faces to create AI-generated “deepfakes” and its gaming studio employs generative AI to compose narratives and dialogue, Engadget reported.

The move came right when striking actors rejected a proposal from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) which offered workers a one-time $ 200-day rate for performers to get scanned for future use.
