Thinkers Tribe in collaboration with Institute of Business Management (IoBM) Karachi organized a Panel Discussion “Localizing SDGs in Pakistan: Inclusive Approaches” on 15th February 2023.

It was an effort to sensitize people about importance of engaging multiple and diversified stakeholders in the process of achieving localized Sustainable Development Goals for socio-economic development of our country.

The panel was aimed at identifying the greater role of Stakeholders: Government, UN Agencies, NGOs, Academia, Corporate Organizations, Community, and Youth in achieving sustainable development goals, and to pave the way for collaborative efforts in the same direction.

The event was anchored by Mr. Nasir Ali Shah, Head of Training at Thinkers Tribe. Mr. Avinash Kumar, Director of Thinkers Tribe and Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Head of Publications & Media

welcomed the panelists and participants of the event. The panelists were experts from different professions working on and about SDGs, they included, Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Rector (Acting) Institute of Business Management Karachi, Ms. Fiza Baloch, Provincial Coordinator at Local Councils Association Sindh, Mr. Ahmed Hassan, Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist, UNDP SDGs Support Unit, Sindh, Dr. Shujaat Mubarak, Dean College of Business Management, IoBM Karachi, and Ms. Zareen Qureshi, National Manager, Poverty Eradication Initiative Pakistan. The panel was moderated by Mr. Rizwan Jaffar Chairman, Youth Parliament, and TV Anchorperson.

Panelists discussed about how we can relate to SDGs in Pakistan and talked about the SDGs most relevant to their profession. They said it is very much important for all stakeholders to work together for better living and lifestyle by rigorously implementing measures leading to achieve sustainability and SDGs.

They agreed to include SDGs in curriculum at all levels to familiarize students about global goals, along with efforts to align all public organizations and corporate sectors in reporting their achievements and contributions to SDGs.

They highlighted that the young generation has greater stake and role in materializing SDGs, as most of the goals related to socio-economic development empowerment of Youth.

Dr. Kamran Ahmed Soomro, Director and Cofounder of Thinkers Tribe concluded the event and thanked the panelists for engaging in such important discussion.

He appreciated the participation of young students in the event. He said that Thinkers Tribe believes in synergy and is striving to create collaboration with different public/ private organizations, nonprofit organizations, universities, research firms, corporates and training firms in order to localize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Pakistan’s indigenous context.

Souvenirs were distributed among panelists at the end of event.
