Saeed Memon achieves world’s prestigious Chevening Scholarship

Sindh Information Department’s Deputy Director Mr. Saeed Memon has successfully achieved the world’s prestigious fully funded Chevening scholarship that is provided by the Foreign, Commonwealth, Development office (FCDO) Government of the United Kingdom.

As many as 58749 applicants from all over the world applied for the Chevening 2022-23, and only two percent of them could finally succeed at the global level. On the National level, out of a total of 58000, there were some 8700 Pakistani applicants, and only 36 emerged successful, Saeed Memon being one of them from the province of Sindh.

“It was a very competitive and nerve-racking process, and finally being chosen by the Chevening is not only a great honor but also a life-changing opportunity”, said Saeed Memon.

Saeed Memon has been offered admission to one of the top-ranking Universities in the UK, the University of Sussex, to study his Master’s program in Governance, Development, and Public Policy. The Institute of Development Studies of the University of Sussex has been ranked as the number one institute in the world for Development studies courses.

Saeed Memon served as the Public Relations Officer to Chief Minister Sindh from 2013 to 2016. Since then, his latest assignment has remained as the Deputy Director of Public Relations for the Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities Department Government of Sindh.

He remained the Editor of the Bi-Monthly official Newsletter “Sambara”, as well as he is the author of the 400-pages book of Cultural Activism in Sindh, published by the Culture Department.

A voracious reader and having a keen interest in contemporary literature, he has been a content writer, and his articles have been published in different local newspapers.

He did his master’s in Journalism from Shah Abdul Lateef University Khairpur, and LLB from the University of Karachi, and then remained attached to some print and electronic media as well as did his legal practice at City Courts Karachi.

Thereafter, he secured the first position in the competitive examination for the post of Information Officer (BPS-17) held by the Sindh Public Service Commission in 2012.

Prior to that, he was the Private Secretary to the Vice Chancellor Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana Sindh. He belongs to Larkana, the city of Mohenjo Daro.
