Tearfund Pakistan helping most vulnerable families


In response to the flood response, food essentials and non-food items were distributed to 300 most vulnerable families from District Kemari & Malir, Karachi on 17th August 2022 by Tearfund Pakistan in collaboration with district governments and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board.

Families were identified through need and beneficiary assessments from UC Moinabad District Malir, and UC 37 Baldia District Kemari, Karachi, with a key criteria on female headed households, people with disabilities (PWDS), elderly people, and daily wage workers who lost their livelihoods in the first spell of the rains.

During the distribution Mr. Sajid Gulzar Project Director Tearfund expressed that, the long spells of monsoon rains have damaged houses and infrastructure, and inforced people to stay home where the labour workers and daily wage workers are affected most.

He further added that, we have tried to provide food essential estimating 12-14 days to most vulnerable families.

On the occasion Mr. Tariq Nizamani, Executive Director SSWMB expressed that, we don’t get such long rainfall, which has affected all of us, and thanked Tearfund’s efforts to provide essential support to families.
