Dewatering process of 95 percent areas of Karachi completed ; Sharjeel Inam Memon

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that 40 mm of rain recorded in the city in two days, dewatering has been completed in 95 percent areas and remaining areas will also be cleared till late night.

He added that problems multiplied due to continuous rains and high tides in the sea.

Despite that, provincial ministers, chief secretary Sindh, administrator Karachi, and officials of KMC, DMCs, Solid Waste Management, District Administration were seen working on the roads and added that Sindh government would continue to do its job, let the opponents continue to criticize.

He added that If it rains again, the Sindh government will be seen working on the roads in the same way. The Minister expressed these views while addressing a press conference at KPT Underpass Clifton. He rejected the the claims of opponents that officials were on Eid leaves and termed it political scoring and accusations for sake of upcoming local bodies elections.

He said that ministers were present in each district, overseeing the dewatering and relief work.

He added that due to cloud burst , water accumulated over roads and it needed certain time to drain it .

Sindh government used all resources to ensure dewatering through natural drains and manual pumping.

He said that KPT underpass was cleared by 6.00 am in morning and minister were present till the clearance of underpass.

While dewatering process at Submarine underpass is in progress that would be completed by late night.

The minister said that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah himself is overseeing the relief operations.

The Sindh Chief Minister has visited the entire city the other day and today.He said There was problem in the old city area.dewatering process was under way at the Customs House. It will also be cleared soon.

He said that videos from other provinces and regions were propagated by going viral from authentic social media accounts.

He said that the opponents were criticizing the Sindh government on social media to shine their politics and to get point scoring for local bodies elections.

He said that gunny bags and cemented blocks were found in drains. Who did it. Unfortunately negative politics is being propagated and followed. He said that Sindh government done great job which was it’s responsibility. We didn’t done any favor to anyone.

He said that he salutes Sindh bureaucracy to the ground staff for making that all possible.

He added that everyone was well aware of situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa what is going on there.

What is the performance of PTI and Imran Khan in kpk where they are running the government for last nine years. In response to a question, he said that MQM is their ally and we have great respect for them. But they have no choice but to criticize as they have to go to the local bodies polls. If they do not criticize then how will they contest the local elections.

The minister said that 200 people had lost their lives in 2007 rains when Mustafa Kamal was city mayor.

He added devastation brought in Karachi during the reign of Mustafa Kamal was unprecedented.

Replying to a question, he said that the Sindh government had announced the other day that accommodation would be provided to those affected by the rains and lost their abode.

To an other question, He said that precious live lost due to incompetence of K Electric.

The Sindh government will provide compensation to the affected families. “Compensation cannot be a substitute for precious lives,” he said.

Replying to a question, he said that administration was present in Surjani, Memon Goth, Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13D and other affected areas and dewatering of rain water would be ensured as soon as possible.
