Powers should devolve from CM House to streets; Syed Mustafa Kamal

Syed Mustafa Kamal Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party while addressing to media at a Sit-in stated that ,It is the fruit of the people’s struggle that such decisions, which had been pending for years, began to be issued in the greater interest of people. No one can ask the provincial government where the billions of rupees annual fund is going. Why the people’s problems are not being solved.

In the light of the decision of the Supreme Court, the Chief Minister should clarify the formula for transferring Rs. 1200 billion to all the districts of the province. The black law of 2021 is still in force in Sindh, No one knows when the Supreme Court decision will be implemented.

Powers should devolve from CM House to the street level. The Supreme Court in case of Nasla Towers implemented it’s order by forcing the authorities to present progress report weekly. If Supreme court had followed the same procedure in Local Government Act 3 months ago and the Chief Justice would have been asked to submit report on the non-implementation of the court decision, by now Legislation would’ve been enacted in the Assembly as per the decision of the Supreme Court and people of the province would have got the much needed relief.

Syed Mustafa Kamal Chairman expressed these views while talking to media on the fifth day of sit-in at Fawarah Chowk. A large number of members of Central Executive Committee, National Council and staff including President PSP Anis Kaim Khani were present on the occasion.

He said that the federation gives one thousand billion rupees to the Sindh government In addition, the Sindh government collects Rs 200 billion in taxes. The federation distributes the money to the provinces, buy it is not being transferred from the provinces to the lower level.

Now the country cannot be operated further like this. The Sindh government is listening to us. The third tier government will have to be given financial powers. If not, the 18th Amendment will be rolled back.
