Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement) Karachi torched and destroyed smuggled/contraband goods including Narcotics, Liquor, Gutka, Cigarettes, Betel Nuts etc worth Rs 2470.97 Million.
Abdul Qadir Memon Chief Collector (Enforcement- South) graced the event as a Chief Guest, However Foreign Dignitaries, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps , Heads of Law Enforcement Agencies , Senior Government Officers , Representatives of Business Community were also present on the occasion.
While Speaking in a ceremony Chief Collector praised the efforts of Customs Enforcement in effecting the seizures, and called upon the officials of Collectorate to get rid society from the menace of Narcotics and remain vigilant to the ever changing trends of smuggling.
Whereas, Feroze Alam Junejo, Collector of Custom Enforcement Karachi welcomed the guests and gave a brief overview of the event.
Later the guests were requested to join Custom officials at the site of “Destruction Ceremony” wherein the smuggled/contraband goods were torched and destroyed.
According to the Press Release issued by Media Liason Officer of Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi Items which destroyed were including Narcotics Substances (249 Kg), Liquor (Whisk, Wine, Beer and Cans numbering 16732 bottles/ 742 cans and 38000 tins), Cigarettes (Counterfeit) (191,642 Dandas), Tobacco and Sheesha Flavour (755 Kgs and 32 Boxes), Mobile Phones (39470), Assorted Medicine/ Injections (30365, 115 Kg and 4 Bottles), Expired Food Stuff (61924.5 Kg and 3271 in Number) and Miscellaneous Goods which include expired chemicals, counterfeit and other banned goods.
