Traffic Police East continuous support to make Smoke Free Karachi PSVs Campaign successful

On the directives of SSP Traffic East Ghulam Sarwar Bhayo, Traffic Police East awareness Incharge Sohail Ahmed along with District Coordinator Tobacco Control East Bilal Zafar, Member awareness team Zameer, Zahoor, Section Officer Arbab Ali and Record Keeper Choudhry Sajid of Shah Faisal Traffic Section including other Personals of Traffic Police raised awareness among public about the hazards of tobacco use and Tobacco Control laws at Shah Faisal Colony.

The Awareness team of Traffic Police East pasted smoke free signage stickers on Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) including mini bus , coaches, rickshaw and cars. Further, the Traffic Police officials also warned the drivers and passengers who were found smoking cigarette inside the vehicle and told them that they will be fined if found smoking next time.

Moreover, they also told drivers about the hazards of tobacco use and its existing laws by distributing broachers and pamphlets among them.

However, while speaking with Traffic Police Officials , District Coordinator Tobacco Control East shed light on the Tobacco Control laws and the role of Traffic Police for its compliance he also praised the efforts of Traffic Police East and specially SSP Traffic East for continuous support to make successful Smoke Free Karachi PSVs campaign by arranging awareness session at different sections and areas.

He stated that Smoke Free Karachi Public Service Vehicles campaign is the part of Tobacco Smoke Free Cities Ministry of NHSRC and Commissioner Karachi vision to make Karachi a model Tobacco Smoke Free City.

At last the Shah Faisal Traffic Section has been declared smoke free zone after the fixing of smoke free signage at its entrance, and the traffic police officials also assured to raise awareness among drivers about the hazards of tobacco use and its laws which prohibit smoking in all public service vehicles.
