The Chairman Department of Social Work The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan held consultative meetings with academia, civil society, and development organization to work under one umbrella for the progress of students who are enrolled in different universities and pursuing social work as bachelors, masters, MPhil and PhD.
Talking to the media, Dr Asif Naveed Ranjha shared that they are planning to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration with Universities and development sectors. Through this students and teachers will exchange from one institute to another to explore the new ways and learnings. Along with this they will work for curriculum development, learning manual and also interact students with regional, national and international organizations.
He also added that, students do not even get equal and fair opportunities when it comes to scholarships. There is a need to understand that most students hail from a poor background and, if not supported by the government, they will most likely end up indulging in anti-social activities.
Therefore, the collectively they planned to create create equal opportunities for students so they may also have a fair shot at a secure future. Thousands of talented and promising students belonging to less privileged background should be provided opportunities to get education and exposure.
Acknowledging the role of Peace and Educational Foundation (PEF) in sustaining peace and development in the society, the chairman said such NGOs were rendering valuable services to the country by promoting peace, harmony, acceptance and building community leaders from all walks of life for this great cause. Delegation from IUB will surely visit you and will plan a community engagement activities for their learnings.
PEF Project Manager Haseeb Iqbal, Bishop Khadim Bhutto and others were also there at consultative meeting and assured IUB to support them for a great change in society.
