Pakistan’s legendary comedian and actor Umer Sharif passed away on 2nd October 2021 in Germany due to prolong illness.
The comedian had been diagnosed with multiple ailments including coronary conditions, while on 7th October Umer Sharif has been laid to rest at Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s graveyard.
He was not only an actor or comedian also involved in television and films, producing several major hits. Despite the fame, but he also had a great devotion to the saints, and his will was to be buried in the Shrine of Sufi Saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi.

The sister of our beloved founder Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Fatimah Jinnah, Shireen Jinnah grave is also in the precincts of Abdullah Shah Ghazi Shrine.
The former leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan Allama Shah Ahmad Noorani and famous Naat Khawan Khurshid Ahmad’s grave is also in the shrine premises. At the age of 77, Allama Shah Ahmed Noorani died in 2003 due to a massive heart attack, while the famous Naat Khawan Al-Haj Khurshid Ahmed died in 2007 at the age of 51.
The Former leader of Pakistan Tehreek E Insaf Dr.Amir Liaquat Hussain’s mother Mohtarma Sultana Mahmood and father and member of MQM Sheikh Liaquat Hussain is also in the shrine premises.
Another prominent Person, author, and father of a senior politician Senator Taj Haider and former vice chancellor University of Baluchistan Mr. Prof. Karrar Hussain also buried in the premises of the great Sufi Shrine.
Umer Sharif was buried next to the grave of Shireen Jinnah, sister of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah & Fatima Jinnah, at the Abdullah Shah Ghazi graveyard.
Umer Sharif was born in 1955 in the southern port city of Karachi. At the age of 14, legendry comedian Umer Sharif started off as a comedian in stage dramas in 1974.
A notable career traversing nearly five decades made him Pakistan’s “king of comedy.
“Bakra Qistoon Pe” and “Buddha Ghar Pe Hai” were his most hit stage dramas.
After successful stage dramas, he set forth into the film industry as a scriptwriter and director and made super hit films for Lollywood like Mr.420, Khandan, Mr. Charlie, Laat Sahab, etc.
Sharif received national awards for best director and best actor in 1992 for Mr. 420. He also obtained ten Nigar Awards; Omer was also a recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
Not only being an actor, he proved himself a legend but he also loved to serve humanity, for this purpose he established a welfare trust in 2006.
The legend left us, but the character he played will forever live in our hearts!!
