Local Govt Minister hands over 28 Sewage Suction and Mobile Jetting Trucks worth Rs.621 Mn to MD KW&SB 


Sindh Government has taken major initiative on independence day for improving the sewerage system of the metropolis and handed over 28 Sewage Suction and Mobile Jetting Trucks worth Rs. 621 M to Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB).

Sindh Local Government & Public Health Engineering Department Syed Nasir Hussain Shah handed over the keys of the trucks to Managing Director KW&SB Assadullah Khan at ceremony held at Bara Dari adjacent to Polo ground.

Advisor Law and Administrator KMC Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Special Assistant to CM Sindh Waqar Mehdi, MNA Qadir Khan Mando khel, Secretary Local Government Syed Najam Shah, Project Director Karachi Water Severage Services Improvement Project Salahuddin Ahmed and others also attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony,Syed Nasir Hussain Shah stated that today is a biggest day for all of us and we celebrated our independence day in befitting manner every year but this year slight changes have been made in celebration due to prevailing Covid 19 emergency situation and in sanctity of Muharm Al Haram.

The Minister said that Muslim population of sub continent would always remember the day of 14th August . He prayed Almighty Allah to Bless Pakistan for ever and guide us towards the path of development and prosperity.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah added that in first phase 28 vehicles have been handed over to Water Board under World Bank funded Karachi Water Severage Services Improvement Project(KWSSIP) today and soon in it’s second phase 38 more such vehicles would be handed over to Water Board .

He said that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and his team were working day and night to complete the journey of development as per the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and were taking all possible steps to solve the problems of Karachi.

He added that Sindh government was focusing to improve service delivery of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and transform it into viable institution for reducing the hardship of the citizens.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah added that vehicles handed over to Water Board would greatly improve it’s performance.

He said that appointment of Barrister Murtaza Wahab as Administrator KMC was also made to bring improvement in the infrastructure of city and added that it was 24 hours hectic job , while Barrister Murtaza Wahab was already holding the portfolios of Environment , Coastal Development and Law departments , but as a son of Karachi, he { Murtaza Wahab} has accepted the giant task.

The Minister said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has given task to Barrister Murtaza Wahab to resolve the issues of Karachi on emergency basis. ‘ I’m convinced that Karachiites and stakeholders of Karachi would support him and those who were interested in real development of Karachi would strengthen him {Murtaza},’ he added.

The Provincial Minister invited MQM Pakistan, PSP, Jamaat-e-Islami and other stakeholders to work together adding we all were working to bring improvement in Karachi and improvement will only be possible when we all do our part.

He disclosed that many projects have been launched to increase the source of water for Karachi and soon the water problem of Karachi will be solved. He said that Karachi Water Board was being transformed and today’s machinery will be useful for Karachi Water Board and the citizens of Karachi.

Responding to query, the minister added that late Naimatullah Khan,Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal and Wasim Akhtar are respectable, but in my view Barrister Murtaza Wahab woukd be the most successful .

Responding to an other question on the statement of Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, he said that Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui is my senior but he should wait for two or three months and witness if Barrister Murtaza Wahab has come to plunder the assets of KMC or to improve them.

The Minister was of view that karachi’s claimants have no assembly members in four districts of Karachi , while in remaining 3 districts they have a few MPA’s .Because of their linguistic and hateful policies and the slogan of ​​dividing Sindh into two parts, my Urdu-speaking Sindhis have rejected them. In the recent Baldia by-elections, the PPP came first and MQM Pakistan stood sixth. 

“We still welcome them. Let’s work together for the better of the people of province, If you have left your leader, separate yourself from his ideology ,” the Provincial Minister advised MQM Pakistan.
