On the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has visited several areas of South, East, West, Keamari and central districts of Karachi and inspected pumping stations and storm drains in wake of Tauktae cyclone prediction.
Secretary Local Government Najam Shah, MD Water Board Asadullah Khan, Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Laiq Ahmed, DC South Irshad Ahmed Sodher and others accompanied him.
Secretary Local Government Najam Shah, MD Water Board Asadullah Khan briefed the provincial minister about the preparedness to deal with any emergency during the cyclone. Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah visited teen talwar, Shereen Jinnah Colony, Maripur, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nagan Chowrangi, Sukhi Hassan chowrangi ,Gujjar Nala and pumping stations in various areas of the metropolis.
On the occasion, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that he has reviewed the preparedness of all institutions to deal with the cyclone adding that emergency has been declared in the local government department and leave of all employees has been canceled.
He said that Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and District Municipal Corporations have been directed to monitor the storm drains and also to clear the choking points in their respective areas.
While visiting pumping stations, The Provincial Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah directed MD Water Board to ensure that during storms and rains uninterrupted power supply at pumping stations and alternative arrangements for electricity supply should be arranged.
