‘4 Days Capacity Building Training’ organized for Champion for Change


Thar Education Alliance (TEA) with the collaboration of ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) and Thar Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (TIEST) kick off the ‘4 Days Capacity Building Training’ for the 50 Thari Champions for Change (CFCs) to enhance their capacity and skills as they can enrich the educational infrastructure of Tharparkar, and also can play a vital role in their local community to ensure the enrollment of girls education, as it has been learned that the ratio of girls education in Tharparkar is 24%.

Speaking to the audience at the opening session, Chief Executive Officer, TEA, Partab Shivani stressed that motive behind arranging this training is to glorify the abilities of CFCs and to connect them with the modern tactics and skills as they can work and contribute for their locals technically.

‘They will be surely strengthened by this training and also by engaging themselves with the reputable people who are with us as guest speakers, in this technological era they can smartly raise the issues and can get the attention of concern authorities in a hurried look.’ Shivani added.

Saba Chachar, guest speaker while conducting the session on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education, across the world, the push to reopen schools is predicated on troubling beliefs about schools and families. Time at home is assumed to result in “learning loss” because our institutions measure learning and achievement by standardized test scores, and do not consider students’ families as a source of education. Besides chasing test score gains, the driving goal for reopening schools is facilitating parents’ return to work — regardless of the health consequences for all involved.

She added that, back to the past when children used to memorize the things, formulas, lessons, rhymes, and poems, but in this era and advancement of the time inquiry-based learning has placed amazingly, the questions of innocent kids push people to experience the things practically. And also, it reinforces to confirm already established ideas. 

Chachar engaged all the participants by making a pair and assigning them some work as they could express the issues and investigate the available resources for STEM education in their schools, colleges, and vocational centers. ‘In high schools when we used to do practical for science subjects it was tough enough to experience the experiments without having a science lab, equipment, proper faculty, and material.’

A renowned trainer, Prem Sagar started his session ‘Governance and Departmental Structure of Education’ by explaining the governance and political structure and departmental hierarchy by engaging the audience to draw a sketch, and then he related that drawing with their personalities. The number of participants were made candle, lamp, tree, ocean, sky, and rainbow.

Prem Sagar further emphasized that ‘You’re the asset to Thar, in a very tough time and challenges if you people have earned the primary, secondary, and higher education, not it is the time to return back the good wills for the people of your home-land.’

He also added, along with the formal education you have to work for civic education as well. It is your constitutional right from 1973 that ‘The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of five to sixteen years in such manner as may be determined by law.’ and Pakistan signed the MoU with UNCRC to provide education to every child, make sure that child doesn’t mean that girls are not allowed to get the education, so it is a dire need to avail such kind of opportunities and work for the betterment of society through positive gestures.

Associate Professor and Research Fellow Asad Shoaib also shared that there are multiple ways to do research if someone is interacting with local, provincial, or federal government with facts, findings, numbers, and data it will give weight to their voice, say something or targeting any organization without can’t work in a proper way.  ‘Before going to solve any social cause we need to sit for a while to do investigative research with whom we can do political lobbying.’
