The 14th August is the most important day in the history of Pakistan because on this fortunate day our beloved country became free.
Therefore, the Focolare Community of Karachi Pakistan too took the initiative and celebrated this day with great zeal and enthusiasm.
They organized this program in collaboration with “Ambassadors of Christ” and “Generation in Christ” on August 13, 2020, at Little Flower Nursery School located at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Archdiocese of Karachi.
The topic of the program was “Masihi Naujawan aur Pakistan” (Christian Youth and Pakistan), in which dozens of youth along with Focolare movement’ members and faithful from different Parishes gathered to celebrate this special occasion.
The chief guest of the program was Very Rev. Fr. Saleh Diego Vicar General and Director of National Commission for Justice and Peace of Archdiocese of Karachi and among the guest of honor Rev. Fr. Nazir John OFM Cap and Rev. Fr. Javed Kashif OFM Cap were present.
The program started with a beautiful hymn “Yasu Main Banay Raho” and with an opening prayer said by Rev. Fr. Nazir John OFM Cap. After the opening prayer National Anthem of Pakistan was played and all stood in honor of National Anthem of beloved country.
In opening remarks the anchor welcomed all the guests and said that we are Celebrating 73rd Independence Day of our beloved country Pakistan. The hall was filled with green and white color cloths worn by participants.
Dr. Daniel Bashir, one of the resource persons, shared his experience about having a very tremendous invitation from Rome to attend a meeting, where he also met Pope Francis, as a blessing from God.
He also told youth of not to get disappointed on their journey towards their goals, people around them even sometimes their own friends and relatives discouraging but trust in God and move forward and complete their journey.
Dr. Sabir Michael, a blind Professor of University of Karachi told youth that they have to rise up, the name of Christianity and their family.
He also shared his experience of reaching at this stage of life and said that his grandfather used to take him to different Doctors for his eye consultancies but every time Doctors discouraged by him saying that his eye sight cannot be recovered but he remember one Doctor, who told him and his grandfather to get as much Education as he could.
He kept it in his heart and started studying and now he is a Doctor and even a professor of University.
Among the guest speakers there was another Doctor by the name of Dr. Nadeem who also spoke to the youth present there for the program and said that “to bring change in their life they must change their activities and attitude because now days our youth is seen involved in other activities instead of getting education and skills.”
He also said that parents must also respect the likes and dislikes of their children; this is a journey which we have to carry in unity and peace. Education is the only way which lifts us up, he added.
