Anti-Corruption Establishment East zone on Wednesday on the directives of Deputy Director East Zameer Abbasi arrested two persons including police official and Medical Superintendent of Police Hospital in Karachi on the allegation of taking bribe from new recruits of Police Department in return of issuing Medical Fitness Certificate.
The raid was conducted at the Police Hospital adjacent to Police Headquarters.
It was learned that, the ACE East took said action after receiving four complaints of demanding for bribe from the new recruits.
ACE East team caught Police Official Dost Muhammad red handed while receiving 20,000 Rupees from one candidate.
Moreover ACE East sources informed that the Medical Superintendent of Police Hospital Tayab Umrani was also involved in taking bribe from the police recruits as the fitness test on Shaheed/deceased quota in police department were ongoing.
The Medical certificate is mandatory for every applicant who want to join Police Department .
Further it was observed that reportedly, Almost, Each recruit would pay Rs.40000 to 100000/= for being certified as medically fit for job, because of pervasive practice in Police hospital.
In Addition ACE East seized record of issued certificates in last three years, which ACE would analyzed to check if individuals paid similar amount to said persons in past.
However, FIR has been registered at ACE East Zone and the arrested accused’s shall be produced before court for seeking remand Under section 167 of CRPC.
