Japan grants financial aid for construction of Vocational Institute in Mirpurkhas


The Government of Japan extended a grant of US$ 89,283 to Advocacy, Research, Training and Services (ARTS) Foundation for “The Project for Constructing ARTS Vocational Training Center in Mirpurkhas” under the scheme of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

The project was signed between the Consul-General of Japan, Mr. Toshikazu Isomura and the Chairperson of ARTS Foundation, Ms. Shamim Akhtar.

This specific grant shall be utilized for the construction of a vocational training school in Mirpurkhas. Four classrooms will be constructed for the sole purpose of vocational training in beautician, dress-making, computer interface technology (CIT) and technical solar panel.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Isomura said that providing vocational education to cater to basic human needs in developing countries is one of Japan’s top priorities, which it actualizes in Pakistan through the GGP grant.

Mr. Isomura expressed hoped that this GGP grant can help pave the road to development in the rural area of Mirpurkhas, and also strengthening bilateral ties between Japan and Pakistan.

Later, Ms. Akhtar stressed the need for developing the education in the city of Mirpurkhas, which relies heavily on agriculture and therefore, vocational skills were needed to enhance their livelihoods of the natives of the city.

Also, she thanked the Japanese government and its people for its support in the up-liftment of the citizens of Mirpurkhas.
