Sir: Fruits and vegetables provide health benefits and are important for the prevention of illnesses. Furthermore, fruits and vegetables contain a variety of nutrients including vitamins, minerals, etc.
Vegetables are the most important things for a better and healthy life. They are a rich and comparatively cheaper source of vitamins. They play a key role in neutralising acids produced during the digestion of fatty foods and also provide valuable roughage that helps in the movement of food in the intestine. Some vegetables are good sources of carbohydrates. People who eat fruit and vegetables as part of their daily diet have a reduced risk of many chronic diseases. Vegetables are an important part of healthy eating and provide a source of many nutrients, including potassium, fiber, folate (folic acid) and vitamins A, E and C. Options like broccoli, spinach, tomatoes and garlic provide additional benefits, making them a super food. Potassium may help to maintain healthy blood pressure. Dietary fibre from vegetables helps reduce blood cholesterol levels and may lower the risk of heart disease.
Eating a diet rich in vegetables may reduce the risk of cancer, heart diseases and type-2 diabetes. Nowadays, the wastage of vegetables is on the rise. In developed countries, especially in Pakistan, the use of vegetables is becoming rare. According to a report, two billion people suffer from one or more micronutrient deficiency yearly in the world. We can fight different diseases by using various types of vegetables as our food. So it is very essential to save vegetables from being wasted.
