Karachi Police Example of Honesty; SHO refused 1.5 Million Bribe & arrested ASI

SHO arrested his own Police Station ASI on the allegation of giving bribe money to him, this is one of the unique example of honesty as Muhammad Gul Awan the Station House Officer of Manghopir Police Station has refused for taking bribe of Rupees 1.5 Million from ASI Mithal who was posted as in-charge of Mai Gari Chowki within the jurisdiction of said Police Station.​​

Mr. Awan has practically proved that there are honest officers in the Police department who are not involved in corruption and performing their duties with the courage and aim of serving citizens.

​​It was mentioned in the FIR that, On 11th September Night ASI Mithal came into the room of SHO Manghopir Police Station and take out money 1.5 Million rupees from the shopping bag and asked Mr.Awan that the said money was sent by Lateef Rind for the construction on Goth Jam Chakro Land.​​

Moreover stated in First Information Report, SHO on the spot has called the higher officials and informed about the situation that Jam Chakro Land Naclass 54 is a disputed land as three people are claiming for its ownership, on the other hand, Lateef Rind was doing construction without any approval.​​

Whereas ASI Mithal arrested by his own police station team under section 54, However police took the said amount and other recovered items from a said person into the custody.​​Further person namely Lateef Rind also nominated in FIR, under anti-bribery act 1947.​​It was also written on the FIR that in an initial interrogation it was revealed that Assistant Sub Inspector Mithal involved in giving the bribe from land grabber to the Station House Officer.

​​Speaking with City News SHO M. Gul Awan informed that he has made the check and balance system of employees within the Police Station more effective. ​Furthermore, he warned for the strict action against Police Personals in case of involvement in any illegal activity.

He also said that the Police is doing its best to arrest the another nominated person. ​​
